What am I supposed to think about while meditating?

A avocation celebrating

The goal of meditation is to slow down our thoughts and focus on breathing and how it feels in our bodies. That being said, there is no “wrong way” to practice meditation.

It’s okay to experience racing thoughts while meditating, especially when you’re first getting started. Instead of becoming frustrated with your racing thoughts, sit with them for a moment. Sometimes we experience racing thoughts while meditating because our bodies recognize that we are in a calm state and sometimes those racing thoughts we experience are things that need our attention.

Simply let thoughts pass by as you meditate. Keeping your focus on your breathing is a great way to stay grounded while practicing meditation.
